Community Gardens

Lakeshore South Community boasts not just one, but TWO vibrant community gardens. The Friendship Garden, established in 2012 on Parkside Drive, has been a beloved part of our community. Due to its resounding success and the overwhelming demand from our residents, we expanded to create the Healthy Harvest Garden in Heasley Park.

Friendship Garden proudly offers 10 plots, nurturing community connections and green thumbs alike.

Healthy Harvest is currently undergoing exciting renovations in 2024, expanding its capacity from 10 plots to an impressive 32 8x8 plots. This expansion will enable even more members of our community to enjoy the benefits of gardening and communal green spaces.

Both gardens are skillfully coordinated and maintained by Megan MacDonald. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Megan for her unwavering dedication to the gardens and her invaluable contributions to the upcoming expansion.

Plots in our gardens are available to the public for a yearly fee. If you're interested in securing a plot of your own, please reach out to Megan by clicking the button below. Please note that plots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Neighbourly Mini-farm

If you are unable to obtain a plot from the Healthy Harvest or Friendship Community Gardens consider joining our broader group of gardeners at the Neighbourly Mini-Farm, 1/2 acre of garden located in Petersburg. This is all volunteer and a chance to grow food with and for your neighbours of Lakeshore South.

Everyone who is part of the growing gets to be a part of the sharing and eating! Harvests are also donated to community members via the food program at Sunnydale Community Center and Facebook.
